      • “If I want to sell items in Walmart or SAM’S Club, do I have to sell online, too?”
      • “Do I have to sell product on Walmart.com first to get shelf space in a store?”

How Do I Sell in Walmart Stores?

If your goal is to have your items in Walmart’s brick-and-mortar stores, there is an in-depth online submission process. To become a Walmart supplier, the first step is to ensure you meet the requirements on Walmart’s Supplier Checklist. It’s important to review this list prior to beginning the online application process. This will save time and let you know if your business is qualified to work with Walmart.

Some of the prerequisites on the Walmart Supplier Checklist include:

    • Company’s physical address
    • Business DUNS number (if you don’t know your DUNS number, click here for more information)
    • Tax information
    • Specifics about your products
    • Insurance and certifications
    • EDI configurations and test

Once you’ve reviewed the Supplier Checklist and verified you have all the information, you can move to the Account Creation process. After creating your account with Walmart Stores, you will submit the information from the Supplier Checklist.

It can take several weeks to hear back from Walmart, and there is no guarantee you will be granted an offer or even a meeting after submitting your request. As stated before, it helps to talk with someone who has been through the process many times to get the best chances of presenting your items to the Walmart merchant team. For a FREE consultation and to ask any questions about the submission process, click here to set up a call with the team at 5G Consulting.

One of the things Walmart will want to know about is your company’s sales history. If you have not had many years or success selling in other stores, one place to consider starting with Walmart is on Walmart Marketplace. Next, we’ll look at Walmart Marketplace and why this is a great first option to grow into getting product on the store shelves.

How Do I Sell on Walmart Marketplace?

Walmart Marketplace allows third-party sellers to sell their items on Walmart.com. If you are not currently a Walmart supplier, there are many advantages to starting your Walmart journey as a Marketplace seller:

    • Getting your product in front of Walmart’s online shoppers (almost 90 million monthly!)
    • Access to Walmart’s reporting tools for Marketplace sellers
    • Selling credibility to advance to becoming a Walmart supplier
    • Added consumer confidence of being under the Walmart brand
    • No setup fee or monthly fee

Applying to be a Walmart Marketplace seller is a simple application process. Click here for more information and to submit your online request.

How Do I Sell Services or Non-Resale Items to Walmart?

Walmart also welcomes partnerships with companies who offer goods or services specific to supporting Walmart’s day-to-day operations. Services or non-resale items include things like:

    • Shelving and fixtures
    • Maintenance and cleaning supplies
    • Technology, software, and equipment
    • Tools and construction materials
    • Third-party work crews

If you have a product or service you would like to pitch to Walmart, the application process is simple. Click here for complete information on basic requirements, Walmart expectations, and instructions on submitting a proposal.
